INTERVIEW: Linking Africa's markets
Imagine, for a moment, if it was possible to buy shares, or bonds at the JSE, or in Casablanca, or in Cairo, with one click, from anywhere else in Africa. Right now, there are at least 3 plans in progress to make that a reality. The most ambitious of these is the African Exchanges Linkage project, which aims to let investors buy and sell any listed security in 6 exchanges in South Africa, Kenya, Nigeria, Cote d'Ivoire, Mauritius, and Morocco. To get a sense of the challenges and the opportunities to be had by linking these markets, CGTN's Ramaha Nyang spoke to Selloua Chakri, Managing Director at SCL Advisory. As she pointed out, building the right standards and infrastructure, is vital.
