The twice-impeached, criminally convicted felon-in-chief, Donald "The Con" Trump, just signed a new executive order to boost excellence and innovation at our nation's Historically Black Colleges and Universities, or HBCUs.
The order moves the White House Initiative on HBCUs right into the President's Executive Office, signaling a push to make these schools a bigger priority.
The plan promises to build stronger partnerships with private companies, help HBCUs compete for more federal research dollars, and prepare students for high-growth careers in fields like tech, healthcare, and finance.
A new presidential advisory board will also guide the work, bringing together leaders from business, philanthropy, and education, including current HBCU presidents.
However, the executive order is not committing new federal funding. Previous Trump-era initiatives, including the FUTURE Act, secured permanent annual funding for HBCUs during his first term.Join this channel to get access to perks:

The number of undergraduate students has dropped by almost 10%during the pandemic. But it's been a different story for some time at many historically Black colleges and universities. Applications are up nearly 30% at many of these schools and top-tier HBCUs are increasingly becoming the first choice for some of the most sought-after students. The New York Times recently published an article highlighting a growing gender gap at HBCUs. Jason and Shemeka Michelle discuss the reasons behind this trend. LGBTQ agendas are prevalent on college campuses, and HBCUs are no exception. Black men often remain silent on these issues, which may contribute to their reluctance to attend HBCUs.

Dr. Elwood Robinson is the thirteenth chancellor of Winston-Salem State University. He has over 30 years of higher education experience working at Historically Black Colleges and Universities (HBCUs) and Minority Serving Institutions. He received his bachelor's and master’s degrees from HBCUs.
