The 2nd Annual Conference of the Society of Black Academics titled "Impactful Research and Scholarship" which occurred on 14/07/2022 from 9am-2:30pm.

With a great line up of speakers, the following themes were covered:
• What exactly is impactful scholarship? A critical perspective
• Routes to impact: how does one go about developing it from a research and teaching angle?
• The tools and techniques for impact: what are the strategies and how to approach them?
• Navigating pitfalls and challenges: some practical examples and cases
• Call to action: what other things can Black academics do to position themselves for career progression apart from teaching, research, and engagement?
• Practitioner session on ''Recruiting for Senior Positions in Higher Education''

Viewers will benefit from the experience of other academics, rethink their career plans, and plan more effectively for success.

The event was organised by the SBA Events Team in collaboration with the Africa Research Group at Nottingham University Business School, University of Nottingham.

The speakers were:
Professor Gloria Agyemang, Executive Dean of School, Royal Holloway University of London.
Dr Doyin Atewologun, Dean of the Rhodes Scholarships, University of Oxford.
Jo O'Leary, Head of Equality, Diversity and Inclusion at UK Research and Innovation (UKRI).
Professor Emmanuel Ogbonna, Professor of Management and Organization, Cardiff Business School.
Professor Funmi Olonisakin, Vice President (Global Engagement) and Professor of Security, Leadership & Development, King’s College London.
Professor Kemi Yekini, Professor of Accounting, SOAS, University of London.
Professor Robert Mokaya MBE, Professor of Materials Chemistry and Pro-Vice-Chancellor for Global Engagement, University of Nottingham.
Professor Emmanuel Adegbite, Professor of Accounting and Corporate Governance and Head of the Accounting Department at Nottingham University Business School.
Dr Becca Franssen, Partner in global higher education practice and global co-chair for Equality, Diversity & Inclusion at Perrett Laver.

The moderators were:
Professor Ken Kamoche, Professor of HRM and Organization Studies, and Director of the Africa Research Group, Nottingham University Business School, UK.
Professor Kenneth Amaeshi, Professor of Sustainable Finance and Governance at the School of Transnational Governance, European University Institute, Italy.
