Johannesburg Stock Exchange celebrates 135 years

South Africa's stock exchange celebrates its 135th birthday. The JSE was established on 8 November 1887, a year after the discovery of gold on the Witwatersrand, to raise capital for mining operations. Since then, the stock exchange has introduced various changes such as replacing the open outcry-trading floor on 7 June 1996 with an order-driven, centralised and automated trading system. Nastassia Arendse spoke to Vuyo Lee, Director of Marketing and Corporate Affairs at the JSE looking at the future.
