For most of the filming, Robert and the team of guides spent time floating down the Chobe River and filming exotic birds, mammals, and reptiles. The Chobe River is an incredible waterway that attracts a huge variety of animals - thousands of elephants, incredible birds, huge crocodiles, a large pride of lions, buffaloes, giraffes, impalas, baboons, and many more. You will see all of them in this stunning relaxing 8K UHD wildlife video! Because most of the time our adventurers were on the boat, they were able to get good low-angle shots of African Jacanas, fish eagles, African sharks, kingfishers, and other gorgeous species. And you can enjoy incredible footage in excellent quality right from your 8K Ultra HD screen! Take a virtual trip along the Chobe River with Robert and the team of guides from Pangolin Photo Safaris (https://www.pangolinphoto.com/ ) and enjoy the wildlife of Africa!

It was quite hot in December when this video was taken, but the thunderstorms cooled the air a bit. Robert used the services of Pangolin Photo Safaris, who provided their guides and special photographic boats for filming. His guides were Keeme Magasele and Charles Matengu, and his photographic hosts were Charl and Sabine Stols from Pangolin Photo Safaris. Robert stayed at the Pangolin Hotel in Kasanе, a small town on the river near the national park. This was very convenient as they provided delicious food and an air-conditioned room with enough outlets to charge his equipment and backup footage.

Filming was mostly done on a Blackmagic Ursa 12K, but Robert also shot some wide-track shots on Red Komodo. Since they were filming from a boat most of the time, Robert tried to include movement in many of the shots. Moving close to the animal, they then turned off the motor and drifted past. This created a sense of movement in the frames.

In this exhaustively researched book, Gerald Horne sketches the apparent paradox of some African Americans turning to armed struggle at a time when it appeared that Jim Crow was retreating. He draws critical distinctions between armed propaganda, armed self-defense—and armed struggle— all of which he places in a global context of anti-war activism, the Cold War and African liberation.

Gerald Horne is a prolific Marxist historian and author considered “one of the great historians of our time” (Cornel West). Raised in St. Louis, Missouri, Horne received his undergraduate education at Princeton, received his Ph.D. from Columbia University, and a J.D. from the University of California, Berkeley. He is currently the John J. and Rebecca Moores Chair of History and African American Studies at the University of Houston. Dr. Horne has written nearly 40 books -- including these at SFPL -- dealing with the confluence of African American History, Communist History, the struggle for liberation, internationalism, imperialism, colonialism, racism, white supremacy, and fascism.

Justin Desmangles is chairman of the Before Columbus Foundation, administrator of the American Book Award.

Co-presented by the African American Center of the San Francisco Public Library and the Before Columbus Foundation.

His essays, as collected in Notes of a Native Son (1955), explore intricacies of racial, sexual, and class distinctions in Western societies, most notably in mid-20th-century America. Some of Baldwin's essays are book-length, including The Fire Next Time (1963), No Name in the Street (1972), and The Devil Finds Work (1976).
